ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Their presence is growing, but their popularity is not. Hundreds of ‘Flock’ cameras are popping up across New York State, with 58 in the Utica area alone, according to DeFlock.
Flock cameras are a brand of automated license plate readers that are mounted on roadside poles and are often cited as a tool for law enforcement. The FBI credits them, in part, for the arrest of 35-year-old Jessica Bowie, who officials said was planning to bomb the New York State Capitol in an ISIS-inspired attack.
