Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
FINALLY! All this rain completely threw off the bloom cycle of our native PRICKLY PEAR CACTUS........but at last we have blooms---at least for a few days.....Yes there's a reason why Prickly Pear Hill in Croton is called...well... Prickly Pear Hill. Read all about that 1973 article here. Then click on the photo to see some old stock blooming happily in your editor's garden. They seem to go through phases, some years blooming more gaudily than others depending on the weather. The bees love these cactus roses--and the bravest of hummingbirds too--but those needles are killer when you're doing fall clean-up!
