Please note: When local village or town justices are unavailable for an immediate arraignment, it is usually due to standard procedural factors: Off-Hour Arrests: Village courts do not operate 24/7; if an arrest happens late at night, early in the morning, or over the weekend, the local judge may be off-duty. County Backup Systems: When a local village judge cannot be reached, police routinely utilize Westchester County’s centralized off-hours arraignment part or contact a neighboring municipality's justice to handle the initial processing. In addition, the town of Cortlandt’s general government operations do not run 24/7, though its emergency and infrastructure monitoring services do. Should the commenter have additional verifiable information to dispute the above, please provide it.
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely the norm in August. Our Croton Judge has done many arraignments when no Cortlandt judge is available. Ask Judge Watkins he will tell you himself.
DeleteYes. That's a good point. August is indeed an "issue month"---even many of the village committees don't meet.
