Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton-- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
“Charity is certainly greater than any rule. Moreover, all rules must lead to charity.” By St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660)
The Respect for Life Society will be collecting envelopes and cash donations at the October 11th and 12th masses for donations, to be spilt between Birthright in Peekskill and St. Christopher’s Inn.
This will be done in memory of Matthew Sorenson, lifelong resident of Croton, who passed away earlier this year.
Birthright helps pregnant and new moms with donations of critical supplies for the care of their babies as well as provides them confidential and nonjudgmental support and counseling. They also help mothers and expectant mothers with for finding food and housing. We were so impressed after visiting them in the Winter and seeing all the photos of the babies and mothers they helped as well as seeing some of the expectant moms in person, that we have decided to support them again this year.
St. Christopher’s Inn in Garrison helps men find a sanctuary to recovery from drug and alcohol problems. Men are connected with other men who help them once they leave St. Christopher’s Inn, so they remain supported after their counseling is completed. This is a place that encourages them to connect with their faith for recovery. Fr. Dennis Polanco spoke with us last year and upon visiting St. Christopher’s Inn last Winter, we were so impressed with the work they do helping the men we decided to continue this year’s donations for them.
Please be as generous as you can with a check or cash in the Respect For Life envelope, collected on October 11th and 12th masses. Again, this year we are blessed to have an anonymous donor who will match the first $1,000 in donations. You can also drop your envelope for the Respect For Life’s collection at any time in the basket or at the church office.
Thank you and God Bless!
The Respect For Life Society,
Jessica Dieckman, Tom Faranda and Brigid Faranda
