ARCHAEOLOGY DAY IN CROTON
The NYS Archeological Assn, in conjunction with Westchester County Parks, hosted the event today at the Croton Point Nature Center.
Children participated in an archeological dig, Dr. Eugene Boesch
discussed historic lime kilns, reenactor Arthur Kirmss showed how the
Dutch manufactured wampum, Michael Biddle demonstrated how oyster shells
were made into lime putty, and visitors got a tour of the oyster
middens. The Nature Center is also home to archival collections and a library.
