BEING THAT FEBRUARY 12TH WAS THE the 125th Anniversary of the Croton Fire Department - beginning with the "Washington Hand Engine Company" (now Washington Engine Company No. 2),and later followed by "Independent Fire Company" (now Chemical Engine) and Columbian Hook & Ladder - we must take a moment and remember all of those that have served this organization with great dedication over the years.

We must also say "thank you" to the countless wives, husbands and children that have put their own lives on hold as our members have answered the call of duty - which isn't just limited to emergency calls, but also the thousands of hours of drills, training classes, work details, fire prevention details, storm standbys and so much more. As Chief Mansfield put it last night, for every member that serves this department, so does their loved ones.

So thank you to all of the wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, children and even grandchildren that have stood by each of us, and continues to do so, all in the name of serving our community.

 --Ex-Chief MIKE CALCUTTI JR. celebrated his 83rd birthday in 2015. He joined Croton Fire Patrol No. 1 in 1958, and served as Chief of the Department from 1978-1980.
