CROTON TOUGHMAN CONTRACT, 2015, HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GAZETTE 7/23/15

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

This week's Gazette--7/23 through 7/29/15--has a front page article on the TOUGHMAN--which is currently seeking a 5 year contract--despite a litany of problems, photos, letters and complaints...and once again, ACCORDING TO THE GAZETTE, the board of trustees continues to "reaffirm" their belief that hosting this event is positive for the village economically and for its image. SEE JUST SOME OF THE RECORD TO THE CONTRARY AMASSED BY RESIDENTS (of course), LETTERS, PHOTOS, THE TRUTH ABOUT ALLEGED DONATIONS ETC. HERE:

SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE GAZETTE ARTICLE

Said Richard Nagle: "What I fail to understand is how you, Mr. Mayor, and members of the Board of trustees, could so easily be taken in by Dr. Izzo's claims that this event is somehow good for Croton,"....Mr. Nagle, formerly the volunteer director of emergency management for the village, has been highly critical of the detours of vehicular traffic during the 2013 event. Following the 2014 Toughman, he also cited issues when it came to traffic and in particular, the potential for fire, police and ambulance crews to be hampered when responding to emergency calls.

Said Mr. Nagle "I continue to be of the opinion that the event is dangerous to the participants as well as the very few spectators scattered along our streets while waiting for the fun to begin (and) are not shopping in our stores...

EDITOR'S NOTE: The board however, actually believes there were FEWER complaints last year.

Please make the time to read the ENTIRE article. The Gazette is on sale throughout the village.
