SALEM NY: John D. Northshield, 61, of Salem, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Dec. 6, 1952, in Peekskill, he was the son of the late Robert Shad and Jane Lewis Northshield. John attended Croton-on-Hudson High School in Croton-on-Hudson. He relocated to Salem many years ago and attended the Salem United Methodist Church. 

John is survived by two children, Amanda I. Northshield and David J. Northshield, both of Salem; two brothers, Joe Northshield of Yorktown Heights and Sam Northshield of Plattsburgh and a foster brother, Hoang Van Ngoan of Indiana.

A gathering for a time of remembrance and reflection will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Salem United Methodist Church, 29 W. Broadway, Salem, with the Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of John can be made to the Salem Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 360, Salem, NY 12865.

  3. So sorry to get this news. We had fallen out of touch as sometimes happens when you get away from the "hometown".

    I want to thank the editor for getting this out there. I come here all the time to find out what's going on in the village, we're moving in the spring, and it's nice to know I can always "come back" online.

    My condolences to the family. They were really good solid Croton people.
