CROTON UNITED, THE LATEST SET OF "FULL-TIME" MAYOR WIEGMAN'S "TIMESHEETS" TO QUALIFY FOR HIS TAXPAYER FUNDED HEALTH INSURANCE

As many of you know, Mayor Wiegman's 2014 "timesheets" have been released thanks to Croton United's recent efforts--and the requisite freedom of information request that has become necessary for almost everything going on in the village these past several years.

Make no mistake. You would not be seeing these now had it not been for the members of Croton United. In fact, you would not have even known about the mayor's health insurance had it not been for Croton United candidate Virginia Calcutti--and the subsequent follow-up of the Croton United team.

The most recent set of "timesheets" submitted by the mayor are disturbing for many reasons--and there will be more extensive details in the days to come. For now, however, here are just five of the things that Mayor Wiegman "charged" the village for--in order to qualify for taxpayer funded health insurance for himself and his family:

--Sept. 1, 2014 - 4 hours for timesheet compilation -- yes, you understand that correctly. Mayor Wiegman charged the village for the time it took to charge his hours to the village.

--Charges to attend the Cortlandt Memorial Day event.

--Charges to attend the Croton Memorial Day event.

--Charges for a Cub Scout proclamation.

--Charged for being at the "Summerfest booth".

There are also interesting travel times charged from everywhere to Cortlandt Town Hall to Bedford.

These timesheets, again obtained only through a freedom of information by Croton United, will be placed online soon. In the interim, however, a pdf is available upon request. Updated, now online @ http://bit.ly/1F6aX7C

As for the Croton democratic candidates' position on the issue of the mayor's health insurance, see below for an important message from Croton United's Anderson, Brijeski and Calcutti:

What is a 'trustee'? A trustee is “a person or organization that has been given responsibility for managing someone else's property or money.."

With regards to our now 'full-time' Mayor, Leo Wiegman, and his taxpayer subsidized health insurance benefits, our opponents' position is that,” We feel it is not for any of us to judge his actions.”

Well, Mrs. Gallelli, Mrs. Slippen, and Mr. Pugh; your argument—if one can even call it that—holds no water whatsoever.

IF NOT YOU, THE TRUSTEES, THEN WHO?

  2. Kind of leaves you speechless. Sam Vassallo, Stanley Kellerhouse, Bogardus, NEVER would have done something like this. These are different days for sure and we are all the worse for it.

  3. Wow. Charging Croton for the time it takes to compile timesheets. As my uncle would have said, this guy's got a pair. If I ever tried to invoice my client for the time it takes me to start up my computer or email files back and forth, I guarantee you that that client would drop me ASAP. The mayor's actions would never be tolerated by any decently run company. This is embarrassing and shameful, and it's hard to understand why some people are still defending these actions. There's no justification for this, especially when the mayor is employed elsewhere and should be able to get health insurance via that route. I just don't get why he wants to charge the residents of Croton when he really doesn't have to. And I don't understand why the residents of Croton let him.
