FLAVA CARIBBEAN FOOD & RUM BAR HAS CLOSED

Sad to say--in the footsteps of the highly rated La Sala which made the Best of Westchester list (see http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2013/12/sad-news-la-sala-is-closing.html), Flava Caribbean Food & Rum Bar has closed. To all those who complain that the only thing you can get in Croton is pizza and Chinese, you simply must do more than complain and wish for international cuisine--you must support the diverse restaurants that have opened here.

  1. We just ate there a few weeks ago and the jerked turkey burger. Not only healthier but very tasty.

  2. Fish fry was good too. We ate there twice a month and not once, not once, did we ever see the really big complainers in there and like a lot of businesses, not once did you ever see any officials in there either. One thing about Schmidt. He actually patronized the businesses here and didn't feel the need to run right out and stick it on FB!

  3. La Sala's paella had been written up in the Journal, the Times, Westchester Magazine. Flava's chicken and fish got rave reviews on the Caribbean blogs. We ate at both places with great results, our only complaint being that the rum drinks were a trifle expensive at Flava. One thing we could never say though was that we had a bad meal at either place. The real story is that we're just not eating out as much as we used to and that's pretty much the way it has been in Croton for a lot of people going back 7, 8 years when the economy took its nose dive and hasn't improved all that much since. I'm sorry to see two such recognized places close.
