THE CROTON YACHT CLUB, STORM SURGE PHOTO

2012 update: HURRICANE SANDY http://tiny.cc/m8m2mw

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

This amazing photo comes to us courtesy of Marcy Cohen, all rights reserved. (Click on it.) As you can see, the Croton Yacht Club was completely surrounded by Irene's storm surge. We saw earlier today that the water had receded quite a bit (the power of a good telephoto lens) but we still don't know the extent of the damage if any. We'll let you know as soon as we do.

Incidentally, our readers at Half Moon Bay said they were all okay.

  3. Great photo Marcy! Also thanks to Everything Croton for keeping on top of everything during the storm. I knew what was open, what wasn't, where to get sand, where to go in case of emergency, I had telephone numbers for verizon and cablevision, knew who among my friends had power or not, etc.

    GREAT job guys!

Great picture.WE had minor damage at the Croton Yacht Club thanks to the membership that did alot of storm preparations, and that were on hand during the storm surge to take care of any needed problems.Come on down for Riverday next weekend.Kenny Schulze Commodore CYC

  7. That's amazing that the Half Moon Bay (or Baby!)condos did not flood considering they are right next to the river. How did they hold back the water?

  8. They did have some flooding along the walkway so we were told but not to the homes it seems. As to why they didn't have more, we don't know.
