Another episode in the "be careful what you wish for" chronicles--P.S. Food tastes pretty bad in them too--ditto for the compostable spoons:
NEW FOOD ECONOMY: The bowls at Chipotle and Sweetgreen are supposed to be compostable. They contain cancer-linked “forever chemicals.”
The biggest culinary star of the past
five years isn’t a chef, or a restaurant group, or the author of a
cookbook. It’s a bowl, a humble piece of take-out packaging that’s taken
the world of commercial foodservice by storm, rising so quickly that
few have noted its troubling secret. If you live in an American city and
dine out with any frequency, you’ve almost certainly encountered one: a
beige, earthy-looking receptacle, thicker than paper and thinner than
cardboard, with a wide mouth and a base small enough to cradle in your
palm. READ MORE HERE.

THANK YOU LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT
As many of you know, there have been reports of non-residents swimming---which is not permitted---at Black Rock Park. Your editor also reported this to the village on 7/25/19, and many other residents have notified the NYSDEC as well as other local authorities. Today, we are receiving reports that both county and local police are in the vicinity of Black Rock and enforcing current regulations.
ONE MORE TIME, PRONOUNS USED HERE
To the anonymous commenter who continues to insist that your editor stop using what they view as gender-specific terms, words and pronouns in the broader spirit of diversity and tolerance---clearly, we view the concept of diversity and tolerance differently. Please feel free to visit those sites where your gender demands are more precisely matched.

THE NEW LOOK AT CARTER'S
Back in January of this year, we mentioned that the Edward F. Carter Funeral Home here in Croton was being renovated. By special request, a photo of the completed work. Very nicely done and the medium-gray color is so much better than the stark and faded white that previously marked this wonderful old piece of architecture. CLICK ON THE PHOTO. WEBSITE HERE.

LETTERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE START ON PAGE 2:
--A letter from May Pearson on behalf of the Pearson Family—“any proposed change to the residency requirement for our parks would be an insane move”; please make sure to read the entire letter.
--A much more lengthy letter from Matthew Rubenstein thanking the paper for its coverage; proposes that the “village extend the existing residency requirement for visiting these Croton River parks (i.e. Silver Lake, Mayo’s Landing, and all others along the river) to include the parking on the streets that service them”. These people will then go to Croton Point Park (paying the fee) and/or the Croton Landing waterfront, open to everyone.
