A LETTER TO THE PAPER--JESSICA DIECKMAN AND THOSE 250 SIGNS!

To the Editor,

The abundance of striking and eye-catching signs celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States that have sprung up around Croton is very inspiring! Though the entire country is acknowledging the two and a half centuries since the colonies formally broke away from British rule, the mighty and historical Hudson River was enormously significant during the Revolutionary War, and this makes Croton, and the Hudson Valley region, a special setting for embracing the anniversary.

I look forward to seeing these signs well-beyond the July 4th holiday: This entire year is a milestone for a unique, incredible and dynamic 250-year journey. My family are proud to be citizens of this great nation, some of our forebears having given their lives fighting for its protection, and it is wonderful to see a like-minded and widespread embrace by neighbors all over Croton. It is a simple yet powerful way of showing appreciation for the country we call home. Please enjoy the pictures I’ve taken of Croton getting decked-out for the 250th Anniversary!

Sincerely,
