LOHUD----Jewish publications took Gov. Andrew Cuomo to task
on Monday after it was reported the governor used a photo that's more
than a decade old to criticize large "Gatherings — Especially Religious"
that broke COVID-19 regulations. The PowerPoint slide said, "Mass gatherings can be super-spreader events." "WILL CUOMO APOLOGIZE?!?" a headline in The Yeshiva World screamed as it revealed the old photo. ...EXCERPTED:
Gestetner, co-founder of the Orthodox Jewish Affairs Public Affairs Council, said the virus needs to be taken seriously. "Orthodox life is very communal. The community can benefit from more awareness from the government."
He called the concept of setting government policy by viewing social media photos "reckless." “Earlier this year a federal judge cautioned the Governor about taking steps on religious gatherings while giving protests a pass," he said, "and I believe that order stands."
