PHOTOS FROM THE 2018 SERENADE, FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE AT HOLY NAME

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

The Spanish Ministry at Holy Name of Mary held their annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Serenade from 3:30 AM to approximately 7 AM this morning...and it was once again your editor's privilege to attend. For those who don't know, the Serenada/Serenata is a special bi-lingual celebration honoring the Virgin Mary on the eve of the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe--and extremely well attended at Holy Name.  (In fact, the Hispanic ministries at Holy Name, are very active and engaged in the Croton church and community).

The feast day is recognized in much of Latin America, especially Mexico, and parts of the U.S.A. for many decades. Residents also bring in their icons and statues to be blessed and there are abundant offerings of flowers and sometimes food. If you have an opportunity, stop into the church to see it all. The statue from the Grotto in Vassallo, the flowers, etc. remains on display throughout most of the day.
