  1. Have you ever used a composting straw? They taste terrible and start to disintegrate very quickly. Due to a health condition I have, I can no longer sip beverages without a straw. I guess I'll have to buy the plastic straws when they are on sale and keep them in the car from now on. Right next to the nine or so reusable bags I will need when I do my weekly shopping, and will have to periodically wash as is recommended for health reasons. I think the soap, water and energy to do that will cancel out any positive environmental effects. I'll also have to buy more plastic trash bags and of course rolls of plastic wrap since I use the bags instead of food wrap or tinfoil. Round and round we go.

  2. I don't go into businesses where I'm smacked in the face with political correctness and expected to pay for someone else's thinking along with my coffee or my beer. I'm not surprised about Starbucks rushing to make this kind of decision. Or when I hear local businesses lecturing me and doing the opposite. Too much 'LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME". Was it ever thus.
