GOUVEIA: THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING....NOT EXACTLY

The agenda for Monday's Board of Trustees meeting is now online. You can see it at the link below.

Of particular note is the potential transfer of $46,766.00 for continued issues of maintenance and more at the Gouveia property--and this only covers about 5 months! And is far greater than the numbers originally predicted under the Wiegman administration.

Stay tuned. http://crotononhudson.novusagenda.com/agendapublic/MeetingView.aspx?MeetingID=297&MinutesMeetingID=-1&doctype=Agenda

  2. Math is objective, and there is no way to make 2 plus 2 equal 5.

Most of us own far more modest homes than Ms. Gouveia's and we knew the maintenance numbers were a farce.

Anybody that has done buildout/construction work at their business premises knew that the capital budget was nonsense; even the ADA upgrades were way off.

But the conditions of the bequest made it virtually impossible to get rid of this white elephant once the Village took possession, and so this decision was made despite the math.

  3. Just for 5 months? Hmmmmmmmm double that annually and you got almost a hundred thou! Great work Croton Dems! Whatever. I hope we get rid of it if we can.

  4. How much are the utilities every month or will we be installing solar panels and what abut the septic system. Let's do sustainable composting toilets! What a joke.

  5. With all the money being dumped into this place, one would have to assume that there's a plan for this property. Is there? Anyone know anything? I toured the grounds last fall, spoke to Ann Gallelli about what was going to be done with the property. She told me some ideas that were being considered, but nothing solid at that time. Has anything solid materialized in the months since then? Anyone? And to be honest, I didn't find the grounds particularly interesting.

    1. One thing we know for sure. Their projections of $50K we'd make in the first year were certainly off. Also at one point Leo said we'd turn it into a b&b but later backtracked and said they were re-thinking that!

  7. There was also a thought for using it for venues and people would use portapotties! It's on septic. Scuttletbutt is the house is a mess. I mean look at the money we have to transfer out to fix things including pests and tree management and...not counting into this was all the plowing that had to be done, the security, the police were there the other day hopefully just patrolling, a long fence needs to be built near the dangerous drop off that spans a long side of the property, etc. THIS PLACE IS A MONEY PIT AND NONEOF THE croton dems' rose colored $ PROJECTIONS HAVE BEEN ACCURATE SO FAR! What a mess.

  8. You'll be happy to know that thanks to Trustee Bob Anderson and the whole board voted to take most of this money from the endowment. This is really going to be a money pit. Watch and see. This is just the tip of the iceberg. King the manager said there is also no interest from anybody so far in renting the house! Surprise!
