FRINGE BENEFIT ETC ANALYSIS OBTAINED BY FOIL FROM VILLAGE: VILLAGE REDACTS INFO FOR FRINGES, MEDICAL & DENTAL THIS YEAR

As many of you know, the village board and staff are currently engaged in holding work sessions to discuss various aspects of the 2014-2015 village budget.

WHILE THE BUDGET IS ONLINE, the 2014-15 payroll/fringe benefits documents/analysis however, is not online; I submitted (3/22), as did Virginia Calcutti seperately, a freedom of information request for this information; this was also necessary for residents last year.

Mrs. Calcutti has received a response; see below. Click on the scans. You will note however, that UNLIKE LAST YEAR, the village has chosen to REDACT--i.e. BLACK OUT--the medical and dental benefits portion.

We do not know at this time under what provision of/exception under the Freedom of Information law, the village is using to keep this public information from the public this year. They will be asked. For some time, the board and its officials have been severely criticized by residents on the issue of benefits, fringes, etc.

HERE IS A LINK TO THE 2013 ANALYSIS FOR COMPARISON PURPOSES -- INTACT -- NO REDACTIONS - NO BLACK BOXES - FROM LAST YEAR  -- unlike the 2014 one http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2013/03/salary-fringe-benefit-analysis-for.html

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THE MAYOR IS NOW RECEIVING MEDICAL AND DENTAL BENEFITS, THIS HAS BEEN REDACTED AS WELL; THERE WILL BE MORE INFORMATION FORTHCOMING.

  1. There's a rumor that in order to match the existing benefits under Obamacare, the costs HAVE JUMPED. Wouldn't exactly want to publicize that if true.

    1. Since we have the information from last year in the very least, it would be very easy to make a comparison IF they release the info, that they have released before, but not this year. We shall see. Residents can appeal such adverse foil decisions.

  2. I hate to speculate like this but what is the difference between this year and all the years before? Only one that I can think of and that is Obamacare. Whatever the reason, this is public information. I have spoken to the open government people, reporters and other municipalities. Administrative staff are not some special class. This is not privileged. What this really IS is a government that is out of control and keeps demonstrating that year after year.

    1. I have the 2012 analysis and that wasn't redacted just like the 2013 analysis. What is going on here? Will an appeal be filed?

    2. I don't know. It's hard to imagine what legitimate exception could be claimed, including privacy, since
      a) all this info has been repeatedly released before for years
and b) the analysis is filled with everything from an employee's base salary, to life insurance, to vacation time accrued, retirement info, social security paid into, etc.

      We shall see.
