NEWS FROM OUR SAVIOUR LUTHERAN CHURCH: Pastor Anthony Stephens will be leaving for a week of training at Fort Benning, GA on March 15, 2013. After training he heads for Kandahar, Afghanistan to fill a vacated post as battalion chaplain for 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion.The 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion deployed to Afghanistan in Fall 2012 to provide communications support to military units across that country using Information Network-Tactical system that Employs satellite technology to provide voice and data connections to military units. The battalion’s mission is to provide “signal assurance.” The 101st is garrisoned in Yonkers, New York. The expected end of deployment for 101st ESB is late May, early June, 2013, based upon current Army policy. Pastor John Backe will serve in the interim.
