Man drowns in Croton

Tramaglini said the victim (CARLOS CHOLCO) was about 38 years old…2nd Assistant Fire Chief Matt
Mansfield said the man was found on the water’s edge when rescue personnel
arrived after running about a half-mile to get to the scene. The man was taken
on a Croton police boat to Mayo's Landing.
--The incident happened close to the site of
another drowning in which Dr. Peter Engel, 53, a psychiatrist from Cross River,
died Aug. 28, 2011, after he and four fellow boaters were thrown from a raft
into the rushing river in the immediate aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene.
