FROM THE MAILBOX

The blog continues to hear reports of a new "LADY WHISTLEDAM" missive and are being asked where it can be found.

Again, sorry....can't help---none of us have seen it. You can sometimes find "her" missives on assorted Facebook pages and physically posted paper copies on community bulletin boards. "She" also has an Instagram page.

A reader asks: What is the official newspaper of the village?

Response: Not sure what your question means. If you mean which newspaper does the village use for publication of local laws, public hearings, assorted legal announcements etc., it's the Gazette.

Google AI says:

Key Details---Primary Designation: The Village Board of Trustees officially designates The Gazette for the publication of mandatory legal advertisements, local laws, public hearings, and tax lien notices.

Secondary Designation: The Journal News is also designated by the village as an official newspaper strictly on an as-needed basis.

Got more questions? It's best to go directly to village staff and/or officials.

A reader was looking for this old article from 2021 on the HALF MOON BAY BRIDGE

MID-HUDSON NEWS: House-passed transportation bill includes $10 million for NY-17 includes Croton, Half Moon Bay Bridge---$1,500,000 for the Half Moon Bay Bridge Reconstruction Project (Croton-on-Hudson, NY)--the link is still live---at least as of today: more at https://midhudsonnews.com/2021/07/03/house-passed-transportation-bill-includes-10-million-for-ny-17/

A reader notes: There were calls for No Kings/Whatever protests on the Croton highway bridge in February, March, and April but they don't seem to have happened. Did they?

Response: Believe the answer is No.....saw the notices, but don't think anyone signed up. However, you should check with the Croton police to make sure.

A reader notes "political lawn signs" showing up in "rights of way".

Response: Yes. But this seems to have been remedied. If you are seeing signs, political or otherwise in rights of way, contact the village directly. The Village of Croton-on-Hudson strictly prohibits the placement of all signs, advertisements, and promotional materials in the public right-of-way.   Under local regulations, including Local Law 3 of 2020, the village bans posting, scattering, or placing notices on public property to maintain street safety and aesthetic quality.
