LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE--ROSE WILDER LANE--AND THE CROTON CONNECTION TO THE DROWSY SAINT INN 

Rose Wilder Lane (1886–1968) was the only child of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Almanzo Wilder, born on the Dakota prairie. Yes, she is the same "Lane" associated with the Little House on the Prairie books......She was also a famous journalist and prominent figure in the early American libertarian movement.  AND LOOK....she apparently spent time at Jane Burr's Drowsy Saint Inn. As to the other names mentioned in the images below---Howe was a prominent American lawyer and author known for his work in urban governance and civil liberties during the Progressive Era and the New Deal. Albert Rhys Williams, spelling of the middle name is often "off", was an American journalist, labor organizer, and publicist. Best known for his firsthand accounts of the 1917 Russian Revolution and a close associate of Lenin and John Reed, he was often described as a prominent apologist for the revolution.

JOHN ROBERT LUPOSELLO-----WE ARE RECEIVING THIS OBITUARY NOTICE LATE

 

John Robert Luposello, 95, was born on July 4, 1930 in Croton-on-Hudson, NY. He passed away peacefully, his loving family with him on November 14, 2025, in Clermont, FL.

In 1952, John proudly joined the U.S. Air Force, serving his country in the Korean War. Following military service, he entered Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL where he met Anne Mullon, a native of Winter Haven, FL. They married on April 10, 1955, beginning a devoted union that spanned 70 years.

He began his business career opening Imperial Lanes Bowling Alley with a service buddy in 1956. He continued his classwork at FSC. More at John Robert Luposello Obituary - The Ledger

On Friday, a young woman who had her healthy breasts removed at age 16 for supposed transgender “medical care” was awarded $2 million, marking the first successful detransitioner malpractice lawsuit in the nation.

Fox Varian’s psychologist and surgeon were held liable by a jury in Westchester, New York, according to independent reporter Benjamin Ryan, who attended the three-week trial.

Ryan suggested the case is just the beginning of detransitioner lawsuits he’s been following and that, ultimately, these sorts of results could discourage doctors from advising or performing these types of life-altering surgeries on minors. Detransitioner Awarded Millions In First Malpractice Verdict: ‘This Is How It All Ends’

Don Lemon’s arrest for invading a St. Paul church as part of an anti-ICE protest has his lefty-media pals sonorously pontificating about the First Amendment, “attacks on journalism” and fascism in America — ignoring the fundamental fact that a press card isn’t a license to break that law.

Boasting that you’re “committing journalism” as you hold a mic doesn’t immunize you from arrest and prosecution for joining with an ugly mob to harass a congregation on private property, which is exactly what Lemon did.

Lemon joined the band of “resistance protesters” who disrupted of Sunday services at Cities Church; coyly telling his camera they were “planning an operation that we’re going to follow them on . . . For those who don't know, Jane Burr--her nom du plume--was born Rosalind Mae Guggenheim. In 1917 she purchased the Post Road Inn (located on the property across the street from the Holy Name of Mary Church and now long gone) in Croton-on-Hudson. 1968 LOFT'S CANDY AND ROBBINS PHARMACY

We love finding vintage ads--and it's even better when they have a Croton connection.

Yes there once was a time when Schrafts, Fannie Farmer, Whitman's---and Loft's---ruled the fancy holiday chocolate market.

Here's a 1968 Christmas featuring village mainstay Robbins Pharmacy. (CLICK ON THE AD.)

As for Loft’s Candy, it began as a small New York City candy shop in the 19th century and grew into one of America’s largest confectionery empires before declining and disappearing by the mid‑1990s. It was founded in 1860 by William Loft in Lower Manhattan.

They operated not just candy counters but also full-service restaurants in the New York area during the 1910s–1930s, making them a popular Jazz Age destination.

In 1931, Loft’s acquired Pepsi-Cola, a surprising reversal of scale at the time. This eventually contributed to the formation of PepsiCo. Rapid expansion followed and then......in the 1970s' to 90's.....Let it suffice to say a decade of shifting ownership and management instability weakened the brand. All locations had closed by the mid‑1990s, ending more than a century of operation.

As for Robbins---it's still here!
