ANGLER ALERT--GIVE STREAM TROUT A BREAK-NYSDEC

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship---in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

GIVE STREAM TROUT A BREAK
With much of the State in drought and little rain in the forecast, many trout streams are exceptionally low. As shallow areas dry out, trout crowd into the deepest pools and their stress levels go up due to competition with other trout, natural predator avoidance, low water flush rates and associated extreme daily temperature fluctuations. So even if you’re abiding by fishing regulations, adding fishing pressure to the mix could lead to unintentional mortality.

Please consider giving trout a break while these conditions persist. In this way, you can uphold and promote the American conservation ethic of “fair chase.” Hopefully, water levels will return to normal soon and the fall spawning trout will have a productive year.
