SERVICE INFO FOR JOSEPH FRANCIS FIORENTINO "PINOC"

Our deepest condolences to the family.....Joseph "Pinoc" Fiorentino

June 23, 1921 – April 9, 2018, Joseph Francis "Pinoc" Fiorentino was born June 23, 1921 to Caremella and Salvatore Fiorentino and lived his entire life in Croton until his passing on April 9, 2018. After graduation from Croton Harmon High School in 1941, Joe began his career as a "Gandy Dancer" (for 2 weeks) then moved onto working in the shop with his father. He eventually became a fireman and then engineer working for New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail and retiring from Metro North in 1991. He was a life time member of the Elks, Croton Fire Department Chemical Engine, and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a New York Giants football fan and season ticket holder since 1956. In addition to his wife Birdy, he was also predeceased by his parents, brother Michael, and by his sister Angelina. He is survived by his daughter June Fiorentino. As we all know, he loved telling stories about the railroad, Croton, football, and anything else that struck his fancy. His casino days are over but, "life is a crap shoot" and as Joe said, he had a good run with no regrets! Visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 4-8PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand St., Croton on Hudson, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Saturday, April 14th at Holy Name of Mary Church, Croton on Hudson with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery also in Croton. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Joe's honor to Holy Name of Mary Church, 110 Grand St., Croton on Hudson, NY 10520 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105

  1. Bit by bit we are losing "Old Croton", the kind of men and women who knew the meaning of service for service sake.
