A 2014 UPDATE ON THE MERWIN OAK IN VASSALLO PARK

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton-- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Some months ago, a former Crotonite asked if the Merwin Oak was still alive in Vassallo Park. The answer is yes but time--and past storms--have taken a toll on this tree--which is over 200 years old.

Back in 2012, the base was infected with some sort of fungus and treated -- see http://bit.ly/1D5EEnA. Several large branches have also been removed and others have been professionally cabeled. Click on the photo.  As always, we hope for the best.
