A LOOK AT THE "RUINS" ABOVE THE DUCK POND 2012

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

We've been fascinated with "the ruins above the Duck Pond" for a very long time. Once owned by Margaret Mayo, an American actress, playwright, and screenwriter, they are all that's left of a large residence destroyed by fire.  According to the Croton Historical Society, the site was also home for about a year to the Indian mystic Mehar Baba through an arrangement with Mayo and the Schloss family.  The site is still privately held, and impressive in any season. Click on the photo. More to come.

  1. When we were growing up, we called it Croton's "Stonehedge".

  2. I think she built it around the 1900's or so for some visiting Indian swami.

  4. So interesting that Meher Baba lived in the house. Per this website https://www.meherbabatravels.com/location-gallery/usa/harmon-on-hudson-ny-usa/ he lived at 180 Old Albany Post Road.
