The late Marion Costello was generous in so many ways; a lover of the theatre, she provided Everything Croton with many copies of her “vintage” Playbills for scanning--and sharing. Stretching from the early 60's to the mid 1980's, we are constantly updating the flickr set for your enjoyment (click here).

But Marion was also an avid National Geographic reader—and she was always passing on items to be scanned and shared with others here at EverythingCroton—in particular, this set of American Wildflower botanical illustrations from the 1915 edition of the Geographic. 

It took us weeks to find the envelope of carefully sliced pages, but we finally located it last night. Click on the photo, then click here to see the rest.

PART EIGHT - YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL FIND AT THE CROTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY:  "THE AMERICAN SOLDIER 1918-1965", a circa 1960's collection of full-color reproductions of paintings from the Office of the Chief of Military History. 

H. Charles McBarron, dean of American military artists was commissioned to create the series depicting American fighting men at various periods in our country's history. No effort had been spared to ensure that uniforms, arms, and equipment were portrayed with accuracy.

Buddy (and his Mom, Lily) were rescued by Phil and Valerie Candela of Trinkets Jewelry (9 Old Post Rd. S., 271-8882) last year. He’s a tough guy and prefers people over his fellow furball friends (Mom of course is the exception)! He loves a good cuddle--and a good snack--and is not afraid to ask for both. Click on the photo!

HISTORIC ST. AUGUSTINE’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH RECEIVES GRANT

ROBERT MARCHANT - HISTORIC ST. AUGUSTINE’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH RECEIVES GRANT – 7/30/12  - St. Augustine’s Church in Croton will receive $4,000 from a historical preservation group. The announcement: “You don’t have to be religious to understand that religious institutions contain some of our finest art and architecture. Many also provide vital social service programs and cultural activities that make significant contributions to their communities. St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church was pledged a $4,000 Sacred Sites grant towards façade masonry restoration foundation and drainage upgrades to stop further brick deterioration and structural movement caused by water damage,” said Peg Breen, President of The New York Landmarks Conservancy.
