-----A reader remembers when the county used to run "best tasting water contests"? And Croton used to win regularly. When was the last one?

The last documented Westchester County “Best Tasting Water” contest appears to have been held in 2014, when White Plains won the title. What the records show:

Westchester County’s Department of Health ran annual tap‑water taste tests through at least 2014. After that year, there are no publicly available announcements from the county, local news outlets, or municipal participants indicating that the contest continued.

Croton‑on‑Hudson’s performance--Croton‑on‑Hudson indeed had a strong run in the mid‑2000s:

2006 – Winner
2008 – Winner

These wins are consistently listed in the county’s historical results.
