A CROTON CARDINAL LIVES TO TELL THE TALE

Your editor heard the familiar thump; it was a bird and window strike, a now uncommon occurrence thanks to special reflective decals purchased from Feed the Birds.  Still, there's always one and this time it was a male cardinal, so badly stunned I was certain he would be dead by morning.

I placed him in a spare cage I keep for such things, turned on the heater, and hoped for the best.

Let it suffice to say all he needed was a quiet, warm night to recover. Click on the photo.
