ALBANY — A man with a knife confronted and chased U.S. Attorney John A. Sarcone III Tuesday night outside a downtown hotel, according to an official familiar with the case.
The man approached Sarcone and, after a brief exchange of words, pulled a knife and lunged toward Sarcone, who retreated into the Hilton on Lodge Street, the official said. The man allegedly attempted to follow him. The exchange was captured on security cameras, the official said.
Authorities believe Sarcone’s attacker, Saul Morales-Garcia, was in the country illegally, though details about his immigration status were not immediately available Wednesday morning. MORE AT Knife-wielding man chases U.S. Attorney in downtown Albany, official says
This is horrible. He could have been killed. He needs a bodyguard. John is a great man with a wonderful family. I pray for them all.—Jessica
