Over at one of the facebook pages there was discussion about the beauty of the old altar at Holy Name of Mary (changed in the 60's). The Croton Historical Society pulled out the 1929 church opening photo and provided it for viewing. Your editor has sliced the lower half and hi-definitoned it so you can see some of the details. Wow! This is an amazing picture. In the front with white feathers on their caps is the Knights Of Columbus. It’s interesting because I don’t really understand where this existed or would be now in relation to the current alter. Perhaps almost in the same spot. —-Jessica D.

ReplyDeleteAt one point, it was in pieces in the basement---so I was told---but that was a long time ago.
