FROM THE MAILBOX: READER'S SON FINDS HIS MOTHER'S "CROTON MONOPOLY" GAME

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Here at the blog, your editor and the Elves try to answer requests if at all possible.  Some are hard---but others are easy!  Like this one:

A reader discovered a "Croton monopoly game" that his late mother kept and wondered if there was any information about it.  Indeed there is.

Click on the image (and one close-up) for the original 1983 newspaper ad...and FROM THE CROTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY FB PAGE:  A resident donated a copy of The Game of Croton-on-Hudson, sold in the 1980s by the Croton PTSA.

There are a few close-up photos on their FB page----and some wonderful old businesses mentioned in the Monopoly tradition----this is a nostalgic trip down Memory Lane for many Croton peeps--YOU CAN SEE THE PHOTOS HERE.

And for a general history of the Monopoly board game, originally known as the Landlord's Game, go to History of Monopoly - Wikipedia

  1. Have gotten several requests for whether this is still available anywhere; NO, not to my knowledge---it was a fundraising tool back in 1983--- you might have some luck on EBAY. Good luck.
