AP UNDER FIRE AFTER BOXER KHELIF WHO FAILED GENDER TEST NAMED AMONG "FEMALE ATHLETES OF THE YEAR"

The Olympic boxer who failed a gender test, but competed against women at the summer games in Paris was named among the top "Female Athletes of the Year" by the Associated Press.

The move has prompted harsh criticism.

Riley Gaines, host of the "Gaines for Girls" podcast, joined "Fox & Friends" Friday morning to react to professional Algerian boxer Imane Khelif was named among the top female athletes of 2024.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) faced global criticism at this summer's Paris Olympics when Khelif and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan won gold medals in women's boxing. Both athletes had previously been disqualified from international competitions for failing gender eligibility tests. However, the IOC and current President Thomas Bach voiced support for both athletes.

"This was a male boxer, who was previously barred from world championships for failing a simple sex eligibility requirement test, [in] which the only requirement was to have two X chromosomes," Gaines said. "He failed that and now his medical record, even in further detail, has been leaked by a French journalist, which, might I add, the IOC had the entire time." MORE AT

BY SPECIAL REQUEST AND BACK ONLINE---FROM 2017---SENATOR MURPHY & THE ACKER-UNDERHILL HOUSE--ON NY REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

(Former New York State Senator Terrence Murphy)

Senator Murphy announces listing of prominent physician's former home on my NY Register of Historical places 6/19/2017

Croton-on-Hudson, NY - Senator Terrence Murphy is pleased to announce that the Underhill-Acker home has been listed on the New York State Register of Historic Places. The home, located at 4 Hamilton Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson, was once owned the Underhill's, a prominent local family, and Dr. Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Acker, a respected physician.

"The Underhill-Acker House is an important historical and architectural resource," said Senator Murphy. "It was associated with the Underhill family, who were instrumental in building local commerce, and with Dr. T.J. Acker, who saved many lives at the medical office he had added to the home. It seems fitting that his historic home has been preserved for everyone in the community to visit and enjoy."

"I am delighted at that the Underhill-Acker House and our village have been honored with this important designation," said Croton-on-Hudson Mayor Dr. Greg Schmidt. "The house captures the design of a bygone era and serves as a reminder of the important local events that have helped shape Croton's history."

The home's legacy parallels Croton-on-the Hudson's own story, dating back to when the area was known as Croton Landing and it was an active port for shipping. The house was erected in 1873 for William and Phebe Sands. Following the death of her husband, Phebe Sands sold the home to Robert and Charlotte Underhill in 1876. The Underhill family became respected figures in the community, first owning flour mills and later a conglomerate of prosperous brickyards located along the banks of the Hudson River. Dr. Acker bought the home in 1886. Following his death in 1914, his wife Frederica inherited the house, where she lived with her daughter, Ella May and her son-in-law, William Burdick. Ella May eventually inherited the house, donating it to the Methodist Episcopal Church. In turn, the church sold the house to Jack and Eleanor Cooper in 1964. Ten years later, the current owners, Marc and Lauren Shenfield, purchased the home from the Coopers.

The Underhill-Acker House remains an outstanding representation of nineteenth-century domestic architecture executed in Italianate style. The two and one-half story wood-frame, clapboarded dwelling was oriented to provide a picturesque view of Croton Point and the Hudson River. The first notable alteration to the home was made by Dr. Acker, who replaced the original front porch with a larger wraparound verandah. Accommodations were also made for the installation of a discreet one-story addition to the home that served as his medical office. A gold plated sign outside the house still bears his name. The rest of the building retains the bulk of its original 1873 interior features.  State and National Registers listing can assist property owners in revitalizing buildings, making them eligible for various public preservation programs and services, such as matching state grants and state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits. Senator Murphy announces listing of prominent physician's former home on my NY Register of Historical places | NYSenate.gov

U.S. and Chinese government officials knew as early as February 2020 that the emerging novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 had already been well-adapted to humans – an early signal not only that it would spread efficiently, but also that it may not have emerged at the Wuhan wet market.

BY SPECIAL REQUEST: TOM GILL & THE LONE RANGER, THE CROTON CONNECTION---ALSO TO THE BONANZA AND HI-YO SILVER COMIC BOOKS

Welcome to Everything Croton--a collection of all things Croton, our history, our homes, our issues, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

THE LONE RANGER was a familiar character in our house...from toys to television to comics to radio---he was slightly below Superman but not by very much.

So it was "thrilling"---yes, the pun is intended--to discover that Tom Gill, the artist who drew the Lone Ranger adventure comic books that entertained millions of youngsters from 1948 to the mid-1960s, had been a Croton resident (June 3, 1913 – October 17, 2005). He also drew the Bonanza and Hi-Yo Silver comic books.

Of course, we had to pick up a copy of......

The MISADVENTURES OF A ROVING CARTOONIST--The Lone Ranger's Secret Sidekick--by Tom Gill with Tim Lasiuta. Let it suffice to say that the book is highly recommended. You can find it on Amazon. Read more about Gill here and here.

IN THE NEWS---ALL THE TIMES BIDEN DENIED MEETING WITH HUNTER'S BIZ ASSOCIATES--AS MORE PHOTOS EMERGE AND EXPOSE PRESIDENT

WASHINGTON — President Biden has for years flatly denied interacting with his relatives’ foreign business associates — a contention further debunked this week as newly released photos show him meeting two of first son Hunter Biden’s business associates in China while he was vice president.

Biden, 82, was the focus of a rare House impeachment inquiry into whether he inappropriately enriched his family in countries where he held sway as vice president — with that probe ending shortly after he abandoned his re-election bid this summer with an August report concluding he abused his power.  The question of Biden’s degree of involvement in foreign dealings now is largely academic, as he and his family are no longer expected to play a significant role in American foreign policy following his retirement on Jan. 20. CHRONICLE YEAR IN REVIEW: OUR SCOOPS AND EXCLUSIVE STORIES KEEPT VILLAGERS INFORMED

Welcome to Everything Croton, (while the New One is down) a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Chronicle Year in Review: Our scoops and exclusive stories keep villagers informed.

This is the 317th post in the Chronicle since we began publishing about 14 months ago. Many stories were scoops or exclusives published nowhere else.

If we listed every scoop and exclusive story the Chronicle has published since October 2023, when we first launched, it would go on for “pages.” So we will just link to a modest selection of stories published over the past several months, reporting on topics that readers would probably know little or nothing about if they did not read the Chronicle.

If you are not already a subscriber, please consider taking out a sub. About 3/4 of our stories are free, and you don’t have to pay if you don’t want to.

But to really support independent journalism in Croton, and if you have not already done so, please consider taking out a paid sub or upgrading your free subscription to paying status. It’s only $5/month or $50/year.

Here then, a small sampling of our scoops and exclusives, just part of our effort to keep villagers well informed about what goes on around them—and what affects their lives in sometimes profound ways. More at Chronicle Year in Review: Our scoops and exclusive stories keep villagers informed.

IN THE NEWS--SPY BOSSES 'SILENCED' DEFENSE DEPT, FBI SCIENTISTS, FROM BRIEFING BIDEN ON COVID LAB LEAK EVIDENCE, TWO SOURCES

Spy chiefs “silenced” researchers in the Defense Department and FBI who discovered strong evidence that COVID-19 most likely leaked from a Chinese lab, The Post has learned.

As a result, their findings were kept out of an August 2021 report to President Biden on the origins of the global pandemic.

That report concluded that the virus behind COVID “was probably not genetically engineered. After the pandemic erupted in Wuhan, China, three scientists from the Defense Intelligence Agency began trying to figure out exactly where it came from — whether SARS-CoV-2 jumped from bats into humans, or whether the virus was man-made and came from a lab accident. The “zoonotic origin” theory was backed by powerful members of the public health establishment, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, and questions about a possible “lab leak” were repeatedly dismissed as a conspiracy theory.he analysis was conducted by John Hardham, Robert Cutlip and Jean-Paul Chretien, three scientists in the Defense Intelligence Agency’s National Center for Medical Intelligence, which is tasked with examining potential biological weapons threats and dangerous infectious diseases.

Among their damning findings:
--The COVID virus contained a feature allowing for easier transmission to humans that was constructed in a manner similar to that described in a years-old Chinese study
--A Chinese military researcher applied for a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine just weeks after the virus was first sequenced in 2020. (He later died after falling from the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology’s roof, according to US investigators.)
--WIV researchers worked with US researchers who trained them to construct viruses without leaving a trace of them being engineered.

Rather than amplifying these findings, they were all but ignored as Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines was preparing her report on COVID origins — which Biden ordered in May 2021.Spy bosses 'silenced' Defense Department, FBI scientists from briefing Biden on COVID lab leak evidence
