For those who've asked about the Asbury United Methodist Creche Scene....once again out for 2020....it was created by Edson Barton. Edson and Connie Barton were long time Asbury church members and active Croton citizens, both buried in Bethel Cemetery.....you may find these photos of interest. Click on the images below.
THE OBITUARY FOR EDSON BARTON FOLLOWS, FROM 2002; G. Edson Barton, 86, a lifelong resident of Croton, died Monday, August 26, in Harrisburg, PA. He was born in Bayshore, LI and moved to Croton shortly after. He was a graduate of Croton-Harmon H.S. He retired from Compagnie Parento, Inc., of Brook St., Croton, in 1980. He was a very active member of Asbury Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. He served on the Board of Education of Croton-Harmon Schools for 15 years: 10 years as its President. During this time, five construction projects were completed, including the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School. Mr. Barton served on the Croton Free Library Building Committee and was a former Committeeman of Troop 25, B.S.A. He was a Past Member of Collabergh Lodge #859 F & AM, and a Trustee for 50 years. He was Past Grand Director of Ceremonies of the Grand Lodge, State of New York, and a past District Deputy. His wife of 64 years, the former Constance Smith Barton, and two children: Roger of Loveland, OH, and Mary Beth of Newport, PA survive him, along with six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Eugene and Stanley, predeceased him. Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the EDWARD F. CARTER FUNERAL HOME, 41 Grand St., Croton-on-Hudson, NY. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the Asbury Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Bethel Cemetery in Croton.

Mr. Barton lived in our house on Terrace pl, he came by years ago just to see if we still had the 6 ft bathtub! We did ! I think three houses on our street we built by Barton's at least I know they lived in them.
