Marilyn Hansen, 74, a native of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Born to Esther McMeen and William Colbert on April 8, 1945, Marilyn lived in Croton until the age of 7 when the family relocated to Peekskill; she graduated from Peekskill High School in 1963. She returned to Croton afterwards, where she met her future husband Peter at Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton. They married at the church in 1970 and raised their two daughters in Croton.

Marilyn worked at IBM during her early career years, and then worked for several years at Briggs-Rogers Insurance in Croton. While working and raising the children, she went to college part-time, ultimately getting Accounting degrees from both Westchester Community College and Pace University. She spent the final twenty years of her career working as the Payroll Administrator at The Mental Health Association of Westchester in Tarrytown.

Marilyn was the treasurer for Asbury UMC for almost 40 years, and was the treasurer for Bethel Cemetery for nearly as many years. She was also a past long time member of the Asbury Bethel Bell choir, and was famous for her cherry cheese cake pastries at various events.

Marilyn was a proud snowbird for the last three years, as she and Peter would spend winters in Las Cruces.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Peter, two daughters Denise (Joseph) Castricone, Janice (Peter Kulibaba) Hansen, a brother William Colbert, one granddaughter, Landry Castricone, seven nieces and nephews, her best friend of over 50 years, Marilyn Reid, and many loving friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Iris Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton, or to the charity of one's choice. Visitation will be at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton on Wednesday, January 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A service in her memory will be held at Asbury UMC in Croton on Thursday, January 30 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow.
