REMEMBERING OSCAR LEVANT: THE CROTON CONNECTION

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

REMEMBERING OSCAR LEVANT: THE CROTON CONNECTION---and who died this date in 1972.

Having recently seen AN AMERICAN IN PARIS again---Levant played a Bohemian pianist, click on the 1951 ad for the film--we were reminded that he got his start--more or less--right here in Croton....at the Mikado Inn.

Click on the link to read all about it @ CROTON HISTORY & MYSTERIES http://crotonhistory.org/2013/04/17/oscar-levant-plays-the-mikado/

And here's Levant playing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, considered one of the greatest concert pieces of all time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiI5WmiIVrY
