Welcome to
Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton-- our history, our homes,
our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
The next time you hear someone complain that Croton's business community just isn't good enough or trendy enough (and we've all seen the blogs and facebook commentary one time too many)--just smile and remind them how much our shops,
big and small, contribute to the fabric of our village in so many
different ways--and especially during those predictable winter storms---from milk to salt to pet food to firewood to gas to batteries to an egg sandwich--to coffee----yes for all the unglamorous but necessary items----Croton's businesses rock... period... bottom
line... end of story.
And so to those we can always count on to be open for as long as possible no matter what the weather, A VERY BIG EVERYTHING CROTON SHOUT-OUT! (And to those unsung businesses and "church folk" that regularly check in on people in need of a hot meal or a sidewalk shovel, a big SHOUT-OUT TOO!)
As a good friend puts it over and over again, you can't eat antiques....
Thank you. I always know I can count on at least one or more delis being open and the diner kept us in a good healthy breakfast mode for two days.
ReplyDeleteWe had great corned beef Reubens from Croton Mini Deli and were able to deliver soup from the diner to a house bound resident. There was even some milk left at the DairyMart on Benedict.
ReplyDeleteYeah I've seen some of the unrestrained what-another-deli or what-another-gas-station commentary myself. I get a real kick out of seeing some of the BIGGEST complainers in those places, and I always let them know I do. Thank you guys for all you do.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true. Thank you everyone.
