Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Croton-on-Hudson Cub Scout Pack 28 is proud to announce that our Senior Webelos crossed over to Croton-on-Hudson Boy Scout Troop 28 on Sunday, April 26, 2015.  Nathan Akhbari, Gabriel Ardito, Matthew Brody, Joey Considine, Mitch Considine, Sean Cunningham, Tyler Evans, Connor Freebern, Colin Kooney, Cooper Laemmel, Brendan McGuigan, Jake Molloy, Samuel Parker, John Anthony Sarcone, IV, Matthew Stinga, Freddie Streisfeld-Leitner and Mitch Weisz all earned their Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts, at our Blue & Gold celebration.  Many of the Scouts have been committed to scouting for five years, earning their Bobcat, Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelo rank advancements in previous years.

A special thank you to Paul Kooney, Safiya Nesmith and John Sarcone, the Den Leaders that have committed their time and resources over the last five years to help these Scouts grow into responsible individuals who are strong in mind and character.  Additional thanks to Charles Henley, Cubmaster of Croton-on-Hudson Cub Scout Pack 28, Mike Reynolds Troop Leader of Croton-on-Hudson Boy Scout Troop and the Boy Scouts that made the celebration special, Mayor Leo Wiegman for attending our celebration and providing the Scouts with a special proclamation, and Father Brian Brennan of Holy Name of Mary for providing our invocation and allowing us to use the gymnasium for our celebration. In addition, we would like to offer a very special thank you to Bob Rice, our Akela, who came out of retirement to perform at our Arrow of Light ceremony.  Bob had been conducting Arrow of Light ceremonies for 53 years when he retired last year, but agreed to come out of retirement for our special ceremony, as he also crossed over Den Leaders Kooney and Sarcone when they earned their Arrows of Light over 30 years ago.

Scouting provides the opportunity to participate in exciting activities, including hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, community service projects and field trips.  Events include the annual Westchester-Putnam Council Thunderbird Games at Croton Point Park, Pack trips to West Point for Scout Days at Army Football, Hockey and Basketball, sleepovers such as our recent overnight at the Museum of Natural History and our upcoming overnight at the Intrepid, Pack hikes at the Croton Dam and Croton Arboretum, day trips including our recent trip to the Catamount Aerial Adventure Park and many camping opportunities! Our scouts learn new skills to earn awards, advancements, patches, medals and belt loops; they build and race pinewood derby cars, learn new games and meet new friends.  Benefits of scouting include character development and team building as well as citizenship, outdoor skills and leadership skills.  For more information, please visit our website at www.crotoncubs.org or contact Charles Henley at henleycb@yahoo.com
