CROTON CUB SCOUT PACK 28 SPENDS A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

FROM THE EVERYTHING CROTON MAILBAG - AND NOW A WORD FROM JENNIFER KOONEY, CUB SCOUT PACK 28 RECRUITING CHAIR:

Croton-on-Hudson’s Cub Scout Pack 28 recently spent a night at the museum! (Click on the photo.)

In early November, 80 scouts and family members had the opportunity to sleep over at the Museum of Natural History.  And it was an amazing night!  Not only did we have the ability to explore the Museum at a time when the general public was not permitted in the building, but the Museum also had special programs and events just for the scouts.  We were introduced to Atka, a grey wolf from the Wolf Conservation Center, we soared with Pterodactyls, we watched an Imax movie about sharks, we did a scavenger hunt by flashlight on the dinosaur floor and we slept under the big whale!  A special thank you to an anonymous donor that made a significant contribution to our Pack, which helped to reduce the cost for our scouts and their families.

Cub Scout Pack 28 of Croton-on-Hudson is in the Manitoga District of the Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Pack 28 is very graciously sponsored by Holy Name of Mary Church.  Our Pack is open to all boys from first through fifth grades and supports all religious denominations.  Our Scouts earn awards, advancements, patches, medals and belt loops.  They build Pinewood Derby race cars and race them, take hikes, and go on campouts and field trips.  The Scouts have the opportunity to attend summer Scout camp, and they learn skills including citizenship, fire building, knot tying, archery and swimming, to name a few, all under the supervision of trained personnel.  For more information, please visit our website at www.crotoncubs.org.
