  1. Pride ran much deeper back then. There were so many floats as I recall.

  2. It really is sad that real parades with everyone's participation have gone the way of the dino here. We took such great pride in these events. From veterans day to celebrating the village anniversary. Compare all this to the awful lack of attention by village officials to the centennial of a few years back and to things like memorial day today.

    1. Tried to organize something months in advance for Veterans Day one year. The hemming and hawing and excuses were epic.

    2. A small town called Kensington in the DC suburbans, it's about three miles from the city line, still does this kind of parade.
