MORE EVERYTHING CROTON'S FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC.

Now here's an interesting Christmas ad from 1963 that not everyone will remember--but we do--a "coffee table stereo" with 6 speakers--in "luxurious hardwoods" by General Electric. You see, this was the highlight of our family Christmas that year--a special present from my father to himself. Now it had its drawbacks, if you spilled anything on the side where the controls were hidden, well that was an obvious problem. Consequently, we weren't allowed to go NEAR it with anything liquid, sticky, etc. -- but it was convenient, a space saver and quite the novelty. We often wonder what happened to that thing but recall it was soon replaced with a kidney bean shaped table in glorious formica--and that it wasn't cheap. Click on the photo.

A very interesting site; click on the link to see some unusual Christmas photos, including putz displays, in unexpected settings
