LOHUD Welcome to the first week of actual competition of the lohud wrestling season.

We published our Mean 15 watch list last week and the much anticipated Mean 15 today. We are scheduled to have wrestling begin on Tuesday, but with the weather not looking promising, we'll see about that.

In the meantime, we have some rankings and some features cooking for all your early-season needs pretty soon.  And Section 1 Duals kick off next week.

IN THE NEWS--MINNESOTA SOCIAL SERVICE WORKERS SLAM GOV. TIM WALZ AS "100% RESPONSIBLE FOR MASSIVE FRAUD" OF $1B ROILING STATE

Hundreds of state workers at the Minnesota Department of Human Services publicly excoriated Gov. Tim Walz for allowing a “massive fraud” scandal to unfold under his watch and retaliating against their whistleblowers.

Over $1 billion in taxpayers’ money was fleeced by dozens of scammers in Minnesota’s Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, the largest known COVID-19 fraud case in the country.

“Tim Walz is 100% responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota. We let Tim Walz know of fraud early on, hoping for a partnership in stopping fraud but no, we got the opposite response,” the Minnesota DHS employees’ X account, which represents over 480 staffers, chided Saturday.

“Tim Walz systematically retaliated against whistleblowers using monitoring, threats, repression, and did his best to discredit fraud reports. Archbishop Stepinac High School announced that its students earned nearly 100 Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar designations in the 2025 AP rankings for the 2024–25 academic year, marking another year of exceptional academic achievement and continued growth in the school’s nationally recognized AP program. Nine of the students earning AP scholar designation are from communities served by River Journal. Stepinac offers 30 AP courses, including the AP Capstone Diploma Program, providing students with opportunities to challenge themselves academically and prepare for college-level coursework.

This year’s honorees include students who have earned multiple distinctions—including AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar with Distinction, and the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma. The full list of award recipients reflects the dedication, talent, and academic discipline demonstrated by Stepinac’s upperclassmen.

The restaurant shakeup started at 49 N. Riverside Ave. in Croton-on-Hudson when Ocean House owners Paula and Brian Galvin decided to close after 21 years. Mayclim Basketball Invitational

Mayclim Basketball Invitational--The Croton-Harmon Booster Club is proud to host the Robert E. Mayclim Memorial Basketball Invitational, named after a Croton-Harmon Booster Club Legend! Robert “Bobby” Mayclim, aka “The Voice of Croton”. Bob was a dedicated Booster who served as the announcer of all the games in the 1980’s. Crowds were mesmerized by his professional level of commentary, amazing sense of humor, and incredible enthusiasm. His Tiger Spirit was contagious to all that knew him. Mr. Mayclim and his wife, Barbara were the proud parents of Scott, Dana, and Troy. Unfortunately, Bob left us too soon in July of 1986, but his never ending spirit and memories live on in his children and grandchildren. Through our annual Mayclim Memorial Invitational, we honor his memory and commitment to the Croton-Harmon Booster Club and our entire community.

The Mayclim Invitational will take place one day only this year, on Saturday, December 13th.

FRENCH ACTRESS LISE BOURDIN HAS DIED

Lise Bourdin (1925-2025)--FROM EFSP

On 28 November, French actress Lise Bourdin passed away, only two days before her 100th birthday. She was known for her roles in international films during the 1950s.
