The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reducing the number of days one should quarantine after being exposed to the coronavirus from 14 days to 7-10 days. Dr. Robert Redfield, Director of the CDC, made the announcement during a coronavirus task force meeting on Tuesday. Dr. Redfield informed Vice President Mike Pence and the White House coronavirus task force that the CDC will be issuing new orders on the number of days that a person who has been in direct contact with the COVID-19 virus should quarantine “soon” reports CNN. IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, A FOLLOW-UP TO THE BICYLISTS ATTACK ON A BMW, TRIGGER ALERT, UPDATED, ARREST MADE, 15 YEAR OLD BOY, UPDATED HAS BEEN CLEARED

WARNING---disturbing video--A pack of young bicyclists attacked a BMW in broad daylight in Manhattan, terrorizing the man and woman inside in a terrifying ambush caught on video.

Several assailants surrounded the luxury ride at Fifth Avenue and 21st Street around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, with some pounding the vehicle with their fists and feet, and another smashing a bike down on top of it, video posted to Instagram by Breaking911 shows.

One attacker got a running start, vaulted up on the hood of the BMW and jumped on top of the windshield, causing it to partly cave in, the video shows.

ANALYSIS---WUHAN, China, December 23, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – A study of almost 10 million people in Wuhan, China, found that asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 did not occur at all, thus undermining the need for lockdowns, which are built on the premise of the virus being unwittingly spread by infectious, asymptomatic people.

Published in November in the scientific journal Nature Communications, the paper was compiled by 19 scientists, mainly from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, but also from scientific institutions across China as well as in the U.K. and Australia. It focused on the residents of Wuhan, ground zero for COVID-19, where 9,899,828 people took part in a screening program between May 14 and June 1, which provided clear results as to the possibility of any asymptomatic transmission of the virus.

Asymptomatic transmission has been the underlying justification of lockdowns enforced all across the world. The most recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) still states that the virus “can be spread by people who do not have symptoms.” In fact, the CDC claimed that asymptomatic people “are estimated to account for more than 50 percent of transmissions.”

LEGENDARY DESIGNER PIERRE CARDIN DEAD AT 98

NY POST - Legendary French fashion designer Pierre Cardin, famed for launching the mod “Space Age” style of the 1960s, has died at age 98.

A pioneer in the type of brand licensing that’s so in vogue today, Cardin’s name was embossed on thousands of products throughout the 1970s and ’80s, including watches and bedsheets, and sold at more than 100,000 stores across the world.

The French Academy of Fine Arts in Paris announced Cardin’s death in a tweet on Tuesday. It did not specify when the designer died or his cause of death.

First up, Life Magazine has a special 50th Anniversary editon for The Mary Tyler Moore Show!  We found this one at a local CVS.  The show originally aired on CBS from September 19, 1970 to March 19, 1977. Moore starred as Mary Richards, an unmarried, independent woman focused on her career as associate producer at the fictional WJM news program in Minneapolis. A central female character who was not married or dependent on a man was a rarity in American television in the 1970s, leading to numerous publications citing The Mary Tyler Moore Show as groundbreaking television....

Next up, a special request---Howard's repro/interpretation of the vintage made in Japan Cottage with Porch putz house; see it from start to finish with pattern here.

Our final post in Disney December at EFSP is about Oliver & Company (George Scribner, 1988), the twenty-seventh animated feature released in the Disney Canon. The film was inspired by Charles Dickens's classic novel 'Oliver Twist' (1838), which has been adapted many other times for the screen. Oliver is here a homeless kitten who joins Fagin's gang of dogs to survive on the streets of 1980s New York City. One of Fagin's gang is Dodger, and Bill Sykes appears as a loan shark. Although it's not one of Disney's best animation classics, Oliver & Company is totally enjoyable.

At 1:37 AM Sunday 12/27/2020, Croton’s Bravest and a FASTeam from #OssiningFire were dispatched to the Metro-North Croton-Harmon Yards for a trailer fire.  Units arrived to find one trailer fully engulfed extending to additional trailers, a van, cabinets full of flammable fluids and steel storage containers loaded with combustibles.  Within only minutes the fire began to spread to a total of five construction trailers. Members of #crotonfire promptly went to work deploying 5 hose lines, a deck gun and an elevated master stream with the help of our Mutual Aid Companies. Units battled the flames and several explosions in below-freezing temperatures, but brought the blaze under control and cleared the scene in four hours. 

 

Thanks to Ossining, Millwood, Montrose, Montrose VA, Peekskill, Buchanan and Yorktown FDs for the on scene help and to Verplanck & Mohegan FDs for covering our district. 

 

MTA Fire & Police, Croton EMS, Ossining EMS, WCDES Battalion 10, Car 2001 and Cause & Origin Zone 4 were also on scene.

The Bauhaus inspired home was originally commissioned in 1953 by Breuer’s friend Vera Neumann, who was an influential fashion designer. The exterior of the modern home uses pops of primary colors. Within its walls, the home contains many great mid-century and neutral finishes. The fashionable and unique home also showcases two front doors, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and a peaceful view overlooking the Hudson River."

The following letter was published in this week’s issue of the Gazette.

To the editor:

2020 has been a landmark year in many unfortunate ways. A year ago, who would have thought that Croton on Hudson would have an official policy of segregated public meetings? The quickest way to bring a conversation to a screeching halt in Croton nowadays is to point out that the Croton Board of Trustees held an official meeting for “black community” residents on October 29 and a “Hispanic community” forum on November 5.

I understand that these meetings, while separate, were equal to the “public forum” on November 19, “held for the entire community.” But slapping woke labels on old practices don’t make them any less racist. What is next: water fountains labeled “BIPOC” and “non-BIPOC”? READ MORE HERE.

A Westchester estate that was once owned by Allen Funt — the creator and host of the popular TV show — is currently on the market for $4.95 million. The property, known as White Gates, was later owned by five-time Grammy Award-winning opera singer Jessye Norman. BY SPECIAL REQUEST: PHOTOS FROM THE 2015 HOLY NAME OF MARY NEW YEAR'S DAY CONCERT

Sadly there will be no annual New Year's Day concert at Holy Name of Mary in 2021. And so your editor had a special request for a re-post of happier days from the 2015 event..

The concert, which has been a Holy Name of Mary tradition since 1993----featured Richard Simons conducting the Cortlandt Chamber Orchestra.

The 2015 program included Strauss--and American composers too. The Don Simons Family Funtime Band warmed up the crowd with old favorites. Click on the photos below, all rights reserved. Here's hoping the concerts will be able to resume again soon as life slowly returns to normal.
