SAD NEWS: LA SALA IS CLOSING

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Despite having been written up for its excellent cuisine in Westchester Magazine and numerous other locations, I am sorry to say that La Sala on Hudson will be closing here in Croton. Their last day will be Sunday, 12/29/13. The NYC location will remain open.

It's been said before, and let's say it again: if you want new, exciting, and/or more business in Croton, you simply have to shop local, stay local, eat local.

We wish the owners the best of luck in their future endeavors.

  1. This is very bad news. They were indeed excellent, and had the best brunch in town going on. Losing them so soon is a big blow to Croton.

    1. Hi Rob, Myr here. We want upscale. We want upscale. Oops, you mean we have to pay for it! Never mind!

  2. People can complain all they want. What survives here ARE pizza parlors and Chinese food for a reason. There are exceptions of course but we are not a rich town and never have been. Pretending otherwise doesn't help. I'm sorry to see Sala go. While we don't eat out much anymore, we did go there twice, which is probably two times more than the complainers who don't like Croton did.

  3. I'm always put off by one complainer in particular who dreams of international food courts and gift shop bazaars yet when "international" opens up here and you ask, hey has this very vocal whiner ever been in the place, the answer is "who"?

I love Sala. Admittedly, it isn't cheap and I have only been in there three or four times, but the experience was always good. I might add I never saw the whiners in there once and what about the officials? Seldom if ever do they grace our local businesses with their presence.

Unless of course there's a photo op.

    1. I did forget to mention that I have seen Trustee Davis in our businesses.

  4. We're back in town to help our parents move to Maryland with the rest of the family, sorry Croton, your taxes are too expensive with too much snow, and were looking forward to their paella. Sorry they shut down. Really good food and nice people.
