GOUVEIA PROPERTY DEAL: IMPORTANT LETTERS FROM THE 12/5 THRU 12/11/13 EDITION OF THE GAZETTE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

TWO IMPORTANT LETTERS FROM THE GAZETTE 12/5-12/11/13

1) As you know, resident Walter Plotch spoke at the last meeting on Gouveia. Last week's Gazette significantly misquoted Mr. Plotch as being in favor of the Gouveia deal. The paper has acknowledged its error; however Mr. Plotch not only clarifies his position in opposition, he also lays out the financial benefits to Mrs. Gouveia. The letter is on page 2; it will hopefully be placed online somewhere. Until then, you are encouraged to pick up the paper. UPDATED: PLOTCH LETTER IS HERE http://forum.ncnlocal.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7451

2) A letter from Paul Steinberg who spoke at the last meeting in opposition to the Gouveua deal. Mr. Steinberg lays out many inherent problems with the "gift", the board's position and attitude towards the public, and applauds Trustee Davis for his statement on the village board's "lack of transparency" (among other things.) It is hoped that the letter will be placed online, but until then, it is on page 2--you are encouraged to pick up the paper. The town's alleged position on Gouveia, according to the village board that is, is also questioned. UPDATED: LETTER NOW ONLINE http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2013/12/paul-steinberg-gazette-letter-gouveia.html

3) For those who continue to ask if Trustee Davis' statement is online, to our knowledge it is not.

  1. It is a shame that the Village Board except for one member, is ignoring the 400 plus people of the village that signed a petition and are against it and only a couple of people spoke in favor.
