1965 GENERAL ELECTRIC PRESENTS RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

Some weeks ago we mentioned our finding a cache of worn but very interesting Christmas editions of Life Magazines from the 1960's and 1970's at the Peekskill flea market. Fellow vintage Rudolph collector Lisa was ecstatic when we discovered a large two page advertising spread from General Electric promoting the latest must-have gifts--accented with characters from the animated classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer showing on NBC, 1965--G.E. was the sponsor:

"GENERAL ELECTRIC - PROGRESS IS OUR MOST IMPORTANT PRODUCT - Watch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on TV! In full color on Sunday, December 5, over N.B.C...a special Christmas gift for all the family from General Electric".

  3. Watching Rudolph was a holiday tradition in our house and one which I've carried over into my own family. In fact I don't know if you have noticed it but there is seldom any more Christmas shows on during the holidays. Thanks to the miracle of dvd's though, I've amassed a collection of all the great ones so that we're not at the mercy of the networks and whether or not they'll see fit to play the classics.
