REPORT ON TODAY'S GAZETTE CUP--BATTLE OF THE HUDSON--"Although it was 20-20 at half and a back and forth lead the whole game, Hen Hud Boys won this year’s Gazette Cup with a basket with seconds remaining.
The Hen Hud girls also won the Gazette Cup.
All-tourney congrats to Croton’s Grace Reyer and Braden Burke and to Hen Hud players Mylene Smith and Nick Hitsley.
Also congrats to Hen Hud’s Caitlin Weimar for reaching 1,500 career points tonight."
MAMARONECK, N.Y. — Roger Kahn, the writer who wove memoir and baseball and touched millions of readers through his romantic account of the Brooklyn Dodgers in “The Boys of Summer,” has died. He was 92.
Son Gordon Kahn said his father died Thursday at a nursing facility in Mamaroneck.
The author of 20 books and hundreds of articles, Kahn was best known for the 1972 best-seller that looked at his relationship with his father through their shared love of the Dodgers, an object of nostalgia for the many fans who mourned the team’s move to Los Angeles after the 1957 season.
“At a point in life when one is through with boyhood, but has not yet discovered how to be a man, it was my fortune to travel with the most marvelously appealing of teams,” Kahn wrote.

To the reader WE MUST SOUND THE ALARM, thank you for your thoughts. However, your lengthy commentary has been deleted and will not be posted here for a number of reasons, primarily your assertions that government must essentially compel a more equitable re-make of American society no matter what the cost.
Oy.....That is not how it works in this country.
In addition, your commentary is pockmarked with numerous errors from your statements about local churches to climate to school sports to gender issues to current political events. To cite just one example--at the present time--per google and Wiki--President Barack Obama awarded 123 Congressional Medal of Honor medals, the most ever, followed by President Ronald Reagan with 102 medal recipients. That being said, you are fortunate to live in a country where you have numerous outlets in which to promote your views. The Gazette provides ample space in their Letters to the Editor section every week, and there are many social media outlets as well. You can also start your own blog.
In the interim, there are some exciting local events this weekend that are just as worthy of your attention: Eaglefest, music at the Croton Library, and the Gazette Cup to name just a few. Hop in the car (or put on your walking shoes) and check out Nella's Nutri Bar or JT's soft opening.
You just might find that your neighbors are willing to respect your views...as long as you are willing to respect theirs.

As it turns out, wind energy may not be as eco-friendly as the
environmentalists let on. Not only are they 24/7 bird-killing machines,
they are also now piling up in landfills because they cannot be
recycled.
“The
municipal landfill in Casper, Wyoming, is the final resting place of
870 blades whose days making renewable energy have come to end. The
severed fragments look like bleached whale bones nestled against one
another,” reports Bloomberg Green. Even
the disposing of a turbine blade expels tremendous energy, being that
they have to be hauled away and must be sawed through with “a
diamond-encrusted industrial saw to create three pieces small enough to

Larchmont development scaled down after community outcry--David Propper, Rockland/Westchester Journal News Published 6:00 a.m. ET Dec. 27, 2019
A proposed development that provoked a vigorous outcry in Larchmont is being scaled down significantly, the developer for the project told village officials last week. Under the new proposal by Elks Homes, empty storefronts along Chatsworth Avenue would be replaced with a five-story building dubbed Centro Larchmont. The mix-use building would include 2,500 square feet of retail on the first floor and 14 residential units on the other four floors.
