MORE CROTON MEMORIES 2012: CROTON COMMUNITY NURSERY SCHOOL

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

MORE CROTON MEMORIES 2012: CROTON COMMUNITY NURSERY SCHOOL, THEN AND NOW

Continuing our Croton Memories 2012 series, we were recently reviewing the newspaper files at THE CROTON ON HUDSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY, when we came across the clipping to the right from 1953 that reminded us just how long the Croton Community Nursery School has been serving the community (click on the photo); in fact, CCNS was started in 1945 when “a group of parents, impressed with the need for low-cost, quality nursery school opportunities for their children, conceived of CCNS as a cooperative educational experience. They envisioned a school in which parents, teachers and children would reach within themselves and out to the community in order to give children a well rounded sense of self and of their world and to inspire a lifelong love of learning”. You can read more about the history of CCNS here: http://crotoncommunity.org/modules/tinycontent/index.php?id=41 AND see some photos by Heather Illardi from the 2011 Mayfair here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22106287@N08/
