Croton Yacht Club Educational Seminars
Please come and enjoy two evenings filled with interesting and entertaining history connected to the Hudson River. These seminars, free of charge, will be held at the Croton Yacht Club, 6 Elliott Way in Croton-on-Hudson.
----Friday, April 11th , 7:30PM...The History of Croton Point
Village Historian Marc Cheshire will present the fascinating history of Croton Point—"from the time of the first Native American settlements (dating back 7,000 years) to capping the Westchester County garbage dump. We’ll learn the whispered tales of witches who once guarded Captain Kidd’s buried treasure, how the cannons fired at the British ship Vulture led to the capture of Major John André during the Revolutionary War and the extensive plans by the county to transform Croton Point into Playland West.”
----Friday, April 25 th , 7;30PM...Historic Ships of the Hudson
Retired Town of Ossining Historian, Scott Craven will present “Historic ships of the Hudson, from the first submarine to articulated tug barge combinations”. Scott is an avid fly fisherman and kayaker who has presented many informative and entertaining topics at the yacht club.
