BUT CROTON HARMON SAYS MASKS REMAIN:
Dear Tiger Students, Staff Members, and Families:
Last night, we were made aware that a State Supreme Court justice ruled that the Governor and State Department of Health do not have the legal authority to mandate masks to be worn in schools. After receiving word of that legal decision, school districts received the following communication from the State Education Department:
Our schools will abide by the directive from the State Education Department that masks remain mandated for all students, staff members, and visitors. We anticipate that there will be further information from the State Education Department on this topic in the near future, and we will share with you the updates that we receive.
With Tiger Pride,
Stephen Walker
Superintendent of Schools

NEW YORK SUPREME COURT JUDGE STRIKES DOWN DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR'S MASK MANDATE
Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
A New York state Supreme Court judge on Monday struck down Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul’s mask mandate for schools and public locations.
“There can be no question that every person in this State wishes, wants and prays that this era of COVID ends soon and they will surely do their part to see that is accomplished,” Judge Thomas Rademaker said in the ruling. “However, enacting any laws to this end is entrusted solely to the State Legislature. BLM IN THE NEWS AGAIN: CHAPTER FUMES ABOUT SHOT COPS AUTOMATICALLY BEING DEEMED "HEROES"
The Black Lives Matter chapter of Washington, DC, has called for the public not to automatically hail cops shot on the job as “heroes” before all facets of a situation are considered.
In a series of tweets late Sunday, Black Lives Matter DC said the
public should not “jump to conclusions” after a Metropolitan Police
officer was wounded by a barricaded suspect late Sunday in the city’s
Petworth section. MORE AT https://nypost.com/2022/01/24/blm-chapter-fumes-about-shot-cops-being-deemed-heroes/

MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHNG CROTON
As always, some wonderful new finds, special requests, oldies but goodies and more. Click on the photos and links.
First up, we have been thoroughly enjoying our visits to the THE PAPER COLLECTOR---and just love this vintage 1964 HELP MR. ZIP WITH THE CHRISTMAS MAIL pattern for a mailbox and mail tuck. CHECK IT OUT HERE.
Well folks--we have gone down the proverbial crafting rabbit hole---and found a place so filled with inspiration for creating our little worlds (and then some), it's just mind-boggling.
The site is called MINIATURE SWEETS---and it seems to specialize in molds and resin---- but really has just about everything---it kind of defies description....
Prepare to spend quite a bit of time there looking around....
https://www.miniaturesweethk.com/
They also have a Youtube Channel that is really worth spending some time at.
There are insights into resin crafting, what you need to get started, lots of inspiration, some fascinating techniques, etc. etc. etc. etc. -- a really fascinating art form with lots of "putz-abilities" - go to https://www.youtube.com/c/MiniatureSweetHK
Next up, courtesy of the LOC, a great photo from 1941: Christmas shopping @ Woolworth's. We love everything about this one--especially the hats--and we spotted a creche and what looks like a dozen baby Jesus-es on the right.
As always, we've sliced and diced the photo so you can
appreciate all the vintage-y goodness.
All
this is followed by a fab lobby card card for The Adventures of Robin
Hood starring Olivia de Havilland and Errol Flynn, 1938. We think she
was never prettier than she is in this role---and Flynn never more handsome. READ MORE ABOUT THE FILM HERE.
And here's something wonderful--a collection of Christmas music as recorded on the old Edison wax cylinders.
That any of these survived to this day is really quite amazing. We're so glad this site was "saved" so that future generations can appreciate how it "used to be done". Click here.
AND NOW---WE LOVE THIS-----The Popular Mechanics Christmas Handbook 1949 courtesy of Mark Podmore; CLICK HERE.
AND THE 1932 Helm’s Bakery
Olympic Village box; graphics and front “architecture” are interesting; Helms
was the official bakery for the 1932 Olympics; the graphics are still very crisp and bright---------see MORE HERE.
You have to love the 60's--some very strange designs--like this vintage record album table---when you think about it though, it's kind of practical for the time http://www.flickr.com/photos/robever80/9951250404/

PART 32, AT THE REQUEST OF OUR LOCAL AUTHORS & JOURNALISTS: AH, INCLUSION, MORE WORDS ARE "PROBLEMATIC" AND FOR THOSE FOLLOWING CANADIAN JOURNALIST TARA HENLEY
One of our most popular series here at the blog. The metaphysical---and not so metaphysical---book burning continues......not concerned yet? Why......
#1, NOW GRANDFATHER, HOUSEKEEPING & SPIRIT ANIMAL ARE "PROBLEMATIC WORDS"---A University of Washington language guide is calling everyday words used by Americans “problematic.”
The University of Washington Information Technology department released an “inclusive language guide” that lists a number of “problematic words” that are “racist,” “sexist,” “ageist,” or “homophobic.”
According to the guide, words such as “grandfather,” “housekeeping,” “minority,” “ninja,” and “lame” are considered “problematic words.”
For example, the language guide states that the word “lame” is considered problematic because it’s “ableist.” MORE AT https://nypost.com/2022/01/23/university-of-washington-language-guide-says-grandfather-housekeeping-spirit-animal-are-problematic-words/
AND
CANADIAN JOURNAL TARA HENLEY QUIT CBS OVER WOKE "RADICAL POLITICAL AGENDA"A veteran news producer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has said she quit in disgust at the national network jettisoning “journalistic integrity” for a woke “radical political agenda.”
In an op-ed for the National Post, Tara Henley said she left following a flood of complaints about the dramatic change at the CBC over the last 18 months. MORE AT https://nypost.com/2022/01/05/canadian-journalist-tara-henley-quit-cbc-over-woke-agenda/
